Hope you like the new site – The site has undergone a major refresh since it was launched in May 2008 with many new features added and existing features enhanced.

You can now add comments to posts, subscribe to posts and comments via RSS the site is now fully searchable the to find exactly what you are looking for. These are just a few of the new features with many more to come over the next few weeks.

Humax release update for Foxsat01HD – HZPTSF 1.00.15

Humax have release their latest update for the Foxsat01HD, the update is available now and you should be automatically offered it or you can force the update in the settings menu.

The update offers: HD MHEG performance enhancements and added DDS Support to DVB Subtitles

Humax release latest software for FOXSAT01 HD Set Top Box

Humax have today released the latest software for their High Definition receiver, the software version HZPTSF 1.00.13 is available now, the latest update will hopefully resolve the issue some users have been experiencing with BBC HD lip synch sound issue, basically the picture was out of synchronisation with the sound.

freesat to add 18 channels in July and August

freesat has today announced the following eighteen channels will join freesat between the end of July and August, in a press release today Emma Scott, Managing Director of Freesat, commented: â€œFollowing last weekâ€™s launch of BBC and ITV regional variants, these new TV and radio channels further enhance Freesatâ€™s offering and provide extra choice to viewers and listeners. This is great news for Freesat customers and something we will continue to do this year and beyond.â€

These additional channels have now been added by freesat, you may/may not have to do a rescan to add them to the EPG.

Alba release latest software update for Goodmans, Grundig and Bush freesat receivers

Alba have today finally released the long awaited software update 1.4.33 for their set top boxes manufactured under the brand names of Goodmans, Grundig and Bush the update allows access to the free to air channels that are not currently on the propriety freesat EPG (Electronic Programme Guide). The update is OTA (Over The Air) and is currently available now your set top box should automatically download this latest update.

Although this is a welcome addition it appears you can not do an auto scan for the additional channels and instead have to enter the frequency, polarization and symbol rate for each channel you want to add. This is hardly consumer friendly we would have liked to have seen a auto tune capability similar to the Humax FOXSAT01HD.

Humax FOXSAT-HD software update will be available shortly

Humax today announced that the latest update HZPTSF 1.00.10 for the FOXSAT-HD freesat set top box will be released shortly, our understanding it is provisionally scheduled for an OTA (Over The Air) broadcast on Monday evening June 30.

The update will hopefully resolve DVI limitation, Screen Ratio and Picture Formats and other issues:

Humax have finally released details of the latest software HZPTSF 1.00.09 for FOXSAT01HD despite the software being available since June 6th 2008.

freesat announces 150 channels by September

freesat has announced by September they will have around 150 channels on freesat and aiming to have 200 by the end of the year. As well as the remaining BBC and ITV regional services, new services will include ITV2+1, Film Four+1, E4+1 and More4+1, Zone Horror and Zone Reality, Kix and BET as well as digital radio stations including Capital Radio, Virgin Radio and XFM.

Remaining ITV regions will be added to freesat EPG by end of June

freesatadvice has today learnt that the remaining ITV regions will be added to freesat EPG by end of June, this is despite rumours circulating on the internet that there is a “problem” with adding the remaining regions, apparently there was an issue when freesat first launched which would have caused problems to other functions on the freesat platform if all the regions had been added then. We will update as soon as we know when the missing regions will be added.

Alba Set Top Boxes: Grundig, Bush and Goodmans set top boxes will be given access for a manual tune function by end of June

As first reported on the 2nd June, Alba who manufacture Grundig, Bush and Goodmans set top boxes have today admitted they are planning to implement a software update for their set top boxes to allow a manual tune to give access to all free to air channels available on the Astra satellites by the end of June, this will be a welcome boost, be aware those these channels will be separate and not on the freesat EPG. The update will be over the air direct from the satellite. NB: This feature has been availabe since launch on the Humax FOXSAT01HD set top box
