			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Al-Jazeera English was named Best News Channel at the second annual Freesat Awards held in London</p>
<p>The news channel beat the BBC News channel, Bloomberg, CNN and BBC Radio 5 Live to the accolade.</p>
<p>Best Entertainment Channel went to E4 ahead of BBC HD, BBC Three and ITV2, while &#8216;Best Music Channel&#8217; was given to urban music network Flava.</p>
<p>Food Network UK was a very popular choice as Best Lifestyle Channel, and the Horror Channel took home the accolade for Best Themed Channel.</p>
<p>BBC Cbeebies won the Best Children&#8217;s Channel competing against CBBC, along with Kix and Milkshake.</p>
<p>Best Shopping Channel was awarded to QVC, while the Judges&#8217; Special Award went to ITV1 HD.</p>
<p>In the viewer-voted categories, shopping channel Ideal World was named TV Channel Of The Year and Planet Rock scooped Radio Station Of The Year.</p>
<p>Freesat managing director Emma Scott commented:</p>

<p>Will Abbott, marketing director at Freesat, said the current economic climate has made the service more appealing to consumers because there is no fee attached to it.<br />
<em>&#8220;I wouldn&#8217;t say that die-hard sports and movie fans are ditching their [pay-TV] subscriptions, but there are a large number of people looking to cut back,&#8217;&#8221; </em>said Abbott.<em> &#8220;The service is also attracting customers looking to upgrade from Freeview, as well as those making their switch from analogue services.&#8221;</em></p>
<p>The TV campaign comprises two ads created by Farm, which feature a consumer captivated by Freesat day after day. The work was shot using time-lapse photography, with each execution using more than 17,000 shots taken with an HD stills camera.</p>
